U.S. Army Signs $4.9 Million Contract for FN M240L Machine Guns
The U.S. Army has agreed to a $4.9 million contract for additional FN M240L machine guns, continuing its collaboration with FN America and further enhancing its arsenal.
The U.S. Army has secured a $4.9 million contract with FN America to expand its inventory of FN M240L medium machine guns. Originally adopted in 2010, the M240L is renowned for its reduced weight while maintaining performance, achieved through a joint development with FN America.
The M240L, compared to its predecessor the M240B, is five pounds lighter due to the use of titanium and advanced manufacturing techniques, setting a standard for lightweight medium machine guns.
The M240 is a long-standing fixture in the U.S. military, evolving from the FN MAG 58 and first introduced in the late 1970s. The machine gun has been updated through various models, such as the M240B, M240L, and others.
